CONFIDENCE IN COMPLIANCE
Fire doors are an integral part of a building’s PFP system, with the fundamental purpose of saving lives. With that in mind it is extremely important that all doors used must comply with British Standard (BS476), and European Standard BSEN 1634, and must be installed by a fully qualified specialist contractor.
Fire doors have three main functions: To allow safe passage of people from a building and to shut when released. To protect escape routes from the effects of smoke, gases and flames. And to limit the amount of oxygen and, therefore, slow the fire’s growth.
By slowing down the fire they give people precious time to get to safety and for the emergency services to arrive. The doors are manufactured to withstand the spread of fire for a minimum of 30 minutes. They are an engineered component that includes the frame, door leaf and fixtures and fittings. All are fitted with intumescent seals, which seal the door when exposed to heat, while also preventing the spread of fire and smoke around the edges of the door. To prevent the release of smoke during the early stages of a fire, the doors are also fitted with smoke seals.
All our fire doors are installed according to the manufacturer’s instruction and include the ironmongery and other items that constitute the doorset. This is critical to the performance of the door if a fire arises. In fact, according to the British Woodworking Federation, the only way to ensure that fire doors are manufactured consistently to a specific high standard is through third party certification. The consequences of doors falling below these standards could prove fatal. We provide a choice of timber or composite fire doors and our team of professional installers can explain the benefits that both provide.
FIRE DOOR MAINTENANCE
Fire door maintenance is a specialist field and is only to be carried out by trained maintenance technicians. There are recognised Approved Repair Techniques (ART’s) for maintenance and repair of fire doors and these must be adhered to in order to offer a certificate of conformity for the door following the maintenance.

We hold third party accreditation for all of our PFP services.

FIRE-RATED GLAZING
We install a range of fire rated glazing for doors, windows and glass panels for any building. The fire resistant glass we use is from leading manufacturers and is designed to maintain integrity while providing varying levels of protection against heat exposure.
The differing levels are defined by specific time periods and range from 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes. Fire-rated glazing is a key component of every integrated PFP safety strategy. There are several different types of fire-rated glazing on the market and include wired, ceramic and laminated, to name just a few.
